Ontario Rabies Update for October 19 – 4 New Cases

Strain typing from CFIA of a Hamilton skunk that was previously tested and confirmed as rabies positive was found to have been infected with bat strain rabies, not raccoon strain as we presumed it would be.  This case is removed this from the total raccoon strain cases, bringing the total to 220 cases of raccoon strain rabies and we remain at 2 cases of fox strain rabies cases since December 2015.
